Sheppard Cycles Product Recall

Please note the following details regarding a New Zealand – wide product recall from Sheppard Cycles NZ Pty Ltd (SCNZ).

Models affected:

The recall covers the following Avanti & Scott models sold from 1st July 2020 – 1st Aug 2024, which had NUTT branded brakes fitted per below image.

Why the product is recalled: These Bicycles have been recalled because the (‘NUTT’ branded) brakes require frequent servicing to perform optimally. Failure to service these brakes may result in a loss of braking power, which may result in a loss of control of the bicycle and cause an injury.

Hazard: When not serviced, the NUTT brakes may lose braking power, which could lead to an accident, causing serious injury.

What to do: Consumers with the recalled models should stop riding their bicycles immediately and contact Sheppard Cycles NZ Ltd via phone on 0800 999 499 to arrange for replacement brakes of another brand to be fitted.

Contact details: Consumers should contact Sheppard Cycles New Zealand Ltd to get directed to your local retailer.

Phone: 0800 999 499 (between the hours of 9am-5pm Mon-Fri), or
